Skateboarding

Skateboarding in Norway began to gain popularity in the late 1970s, but faced a major setback when it was officially banned from 1978 to 1989 due to safety concerns. Despite the ban, a strong underground scene emerged, with skaters building their own ramps and sharing imported gear in secret. After the ban was lifted, skateboarding quickly grew in popularity, with more skateparks being built and the culture becoming widely accepted. Today, Norway has a vibrant skateboarding community and has produced internationally recognized skateboarders.
